If this is the case you will NEVER receive the speed that you are actually paying for because the final copper connection restricts the speed. this is where Fibre Optic cable covers the main network but the final connection to the house is by copper wire from a cabinet that services a few hundred or thousand properties. It sounds like you have Fibre To The Cabinet broadband (FTTC or Partial Fibre) as it's sometimes called.
